Shipping is stressful for plants
and a little browning is normal. If you
follow these instructions, your plants will be less stressed and they will
acclimate better.
Anytime you place an order, you
must watch for the arrival of your order so that your plants do not sit in a hot
mailbox or outside in the heat. In other
words, get your order out of the heat as quickly as soon as it arrives!
Immediately upon arrival, open
the box and put your plant(s) in water outside. Your plants are not going to thrive sitting
in a bowl of water inside on your kitchen table. Outside, a shady, calm area is
helpful to let them recover from shipping. Floating plants (like water lettuce) are
happier being bunched together (you can use a hulu hoop to keep them together). Put plants in a calm area with no water
splashing. Beware that your fish may
like to munch on the roots. Some
browning of edges is normal in shipping.
They will recover and grow new leaves. Be patient.
You can trim off brown leaves. As
long as you follow these instructions, the plants will propagate themselves.
