The Western Meadowlark is a common bird of the range and grasslands and differs a little in coloration from the common Eastern Meadowlark. In Arizona, it is commonly seen atop a range fence post in the grasslands of southeast Arizona, around Sonoita and Patagonia. I have always felt this bird is a “happy and optimistic” bird because it so beautifully welcomes the sunrise of each day with such a positive song!
